Launch of Haruki Murakami’s work in Maltese

Well known Maltese writer Charles Flores made a significant contribution to Maltese literature by translating into Maltese Haruki Murakaml’s novel NORWEGIAN WOODS. 
This work opens a window on contemporary Japanese literature and brings Japanese customs and way of thinking to Maltese readers.

Members of the MJCC Committee attended this event.
The launch of Flores’ translation took place on Sunday 12 March 2023 in the little Chapel dedicated to our Saviour in Kalkara, a beautiful village where Charles Flores comes from.

Flores gave a short emotional speech during the launch which was also addressed by Dr. Salvo Giuffre, lecturer of Japanese and Chinese, and Dr. Joseph Pirotta, Treasurer and Committee member of the Malta Japan Chamber of Commerce. 
H.E. Andre Spiteri also hailed this work as a milestone in Maltese literature in a short video recording for the occasion.
