Visit of Minister Counsellor to MJCC

In spite of his tight schedule during his short visit to Malta Mr. Hironori Suzuki, Minister Counsellor at the Japanese Embassy in Rome, visited the premises of the Malta Japan Chamber of Commerce for a meeting with the Committee.

Minister Counsellor Suzuki was accompanied by Mr. Geoffrey Debono, Hon. Consul of Japan in Malta, and Dr. Masamichi Yamashita from the Japanese Embassy in Rome.

The visit took place on the 14 February 2023
Counsellor Suzuki was welcomed by MJCC President Mr. Anthony Micallef who gave a brief overview of the history of MJCC and its activities since its setting up in 2017. 
There were other interventions by Committee members highlighting the efforts being done to strengthen economic and cultural ties between Malta and Japan.

Counsellor Suzuki showed his appreciation at the precious work being done by MJCC and augured well for the months to come, especially following the fallout of Covid.

Both sides stressed the need to strengthen ties between MJCC and the Embassy in Rome, especially regarding high level visits.

They also promised to exchange regular information regarding various economic, social, scientific and cultural events taking place in the respective two countries.

This visit was a first ever by a diplomat from the Japanese Embassy in Rome.
